Emeka Agbugba is an experienced risk manager with expertise in framework development and implementation, regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering and combating terrorist financing, money laundering reporting and stakeholders’ relations management. He is a dynamic and result-oriented executive and currently heads the Compliance and Regulatory Risks Department in the Risk Management Division of AIICO Insurance Plc. Mr. Agbugba was a major player in the set-up of a Compliance Unit in the Legal and Compliance Department, where he also served as the sole pioneer staff member of the unit. Before joining the Compliance team in 2014, he spearheaded several structural and framework projects in the Customer Engagement department of the company.

He started his career insurance career in 2009 with GTAssur plc (now Axa-Mansard Insurance Plc) and later moved to Hygeia Nigeria Limited (HMO) prior to joining AIICO.

Mr. Agbugba is an alumnus of the great University of Benin, from where he graduated with an Upper Second-Class degree in English Language & Literature; he also holds a Master in Business Administration (Marketing Management) from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and a Master of Arts (English Language) from the University of Lagos.

He has attended several local and international courses and programs in risk management and compliance and bagged many certifications, including the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Information Security Management Systems Lead Implementer and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), amongst others. He is also an affiliate of some notable professional bodies, including the Risk Managers Society of Nigeria, the Compliance Institute, Nigeria (International Federation of Compliance Associations) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

Beyond insurance, Mr. Agbugba supports is a researcher on public communication, comparative politics, cultures and traditions and he enjoys teaching. He is very well-noted for his tenacity, high sense of entrepreneurship and creative communication; he is highly respected for his consistent and impeccable character, diligence and strong professional and ethical principles.
